Šćedro Island
An uninhabited island sanctuary south of Hvar. Explore Scedro by private boat - ancient monastery ruins, pristine hidden coves, and crystal-clear Adriatic waters.
The Hidden Island
Šćedro (pronounced "shche-dro") lies just south of Hvar, visible from the south coast on clear days. Despite its proximity - about 30-40 minutes by boat - most tourists never visit. This is what makes it special.
The island has been uninhabited since the decline of its Dominican monastery centuries ago. Today, only a few small konobas operate seasonally in the protected bays. Otherwise, you have the island essentially to yourself.
Dense Mediterranean forest covers most of the island. Wild rosemary, sage, and lavender scent the air. Hiking trails lead through the fragrant undergrowth to the atmospheric monastery ruins and to viewpoints overlooking the sea.
The bays around Šćedro offer some of the best swimming and snorkeling anywhere. With no development, no runoff, and strong currents bringing clean water, visibility often exceeds 40 meters. The underwater landscape of rocks and seagrass meadows teems with fish.

Captain Ivan's tip:
"Šćedro is my favorite island for a reason - almost no one goes there. The monastery ruins and the protected bay on the north side are magical. I anchor in Lovišće Bay where the water is so clear you can see the anchor on the bottom at 8 meters."
